PRODUCT ORIGINS
Cascada works with a range of Products from all around South America due to our extensive research and travels we are able to stock fantastic products from Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, Peru and Brazil.
We began meeting artesans and small cottage workshops in 2003 and we are still working with the same and more families and friends.It is extremely important for us and our friends to sustain this good working relatiopnship and trust.South America though very traditional and still using ancient craft techniques can be also advanced and groundbreaking in art and design, therefore we mix a wide range of traditional motifs and designs with contemporary designs to be able to appeal to a wider audience.
We have been able to source fantastic knitwear and woven products using ancient crafts from the beautiful country of Boilivia where we work with one family in the colonnial city of Sucre, we have a great friendly relationship with the producers who are skilled in sourcing antique collectable woven items aswell as creating contemporary ranges of knitwear.

From Ecuador we are able to source a large range of products as similar to other andean countries craftmaking and agriculture are two of the most important day to day activities to the Indigenous people that have always inhabited those mountains.Here we work with loom weavers and knitters to produce our Knitwear for all the family and our woven jackets range.
We have also been working on a special project with a family who produce the natural seed jewellery range .It is a fair trade project whereby in addition to buying there jewellery from this family we also send extra monies to them to pay for education for younger members of the family as we are trying to discourage the exploitation of child labour that is common worldwide , however we do this without interfering with the traditions and happines of our friends.
Peru home of Macchu Pichu and the Nazca Lines is also a country famous for some of the most skilled craft hands in the world , we are proud to have been sourcing our alpca jewellery range and more from this sacred land.

Colombia or Locumbia as locals call it is another beautiful country, in Colombia you can be in the andean mountains enjoying the altitude air and high panoramic views then travel only one hour by bus and find yourself in what feels like a different country steaming tropical caribean orgy of the senses. Currently Colombia and other South American countries are given a raw deal with trade laws by the United States of American Government which are leading to a decrease in home made products especially clothing and crafts therefore it is even more important for us to continue sourcing these wonderful vibrant Colombian crafts. |
